Spending my birthday with the family

I'm now approaching the big 3-0 at a rapid rate. Today is my 27th birthday.

For years I've been dreading the grey hairs and the wrinkles that will imminently appear.

My eyes weren't open yet this morning when the whole family mistook me for a trampoline and started planting wet kisses all over my still-sleepy warm face. Am I old or am I just not a morning person?

I read an article last week about staying young and letting your inner child out to play. It was about jumping in puddles - well I do that whenever the kids had a bath - there's more water outside than inside the bath... Watching cartoons also keeps the inner child entertained. I figured the fact that I know Shrek word-for-word should cover me there.

Well, after much nagging, the kids convinced me to bake them a Barney cake for my birthday... The thing got stuck (I DID grease the tin!) and broke horizontally in half. I decorated it with white and purple icing and a rice-paper picture that says "How many candles can you count?" - I decided against candles when my son told his granny that I'm 72 today.

I had some great surprises today, great news business-wise - so a good day all together. The best news yet? Wade decided to clean up his office! It's kind of bittersweet as I'd love to walk into the office without my having to dig through a ton of newspapers, computer parts and all kinds of things to get to him. I will however miss him dearly for the 6 weeks it will take him to clean it.

My son, coming from Wade's office presented me with a card Wade found there somewhere; little face alight with excitement at the bright colours and funky picture on the card Wade gave me 6 years ago "You're 21 Today". As a normal human being, the first thought that entered my mind was negative "Smuck!", but then I thought it through and decided maybe he's not so bad after all... He still thinks I'm the hot 21 year old I was light years ago...

I feel young after all!
